I remember the first time I heard the phrase "suicide is painless"
I thought that surely that would all depend
On the method employed and the amount of suffering endured
And how could anyone ever be sure?
And what about the people who held the victim dear to their hearts?
I'm sure the pain would cut them in half
This person that they loved, cherished, admired and adored
Chose to end their life and close the door
On everyone and everything that they had ever liked or loved
Because the darkness had became too much
Whether it was money problems, love life or maybe something else
Instead of working things out, they chose death.
I've sometimes heard people claiming that suicide is the easy way out
I think that would make me scream and shout
If someone close to me couldn't cope and had chosen to end it all
It makes their problems seem so small
It suggests that suicidal tendencies are just so insignificant
But we're talking about mental health
It's a complex subject that very few seem to understand
And I hope you are never dealt that hand
Because when the darkness descends on you like a deep thick fog
Life can become such a tiresome slog
Whether it is money problems, love life or maybe something else
Instead of working things out, you might choose death.
